Rosen's Shingle Creek Hotel
Rosen Shingle Creek is an entrepreneur’s
dream come true. Local hotel magnate, Harris
Rosen, bought his first hotel on International Drive
in 1974. Since then he has added six hotels and
in September 2006, opened his dream property,
Rosen Shingle Creek, site of this year’s 29th Annual
ASBDC Conference.
The name Shingle Creek comes from a small
waterway that passes through the property and
is generally considered to be the northernmost
headwaters of the Everglades. It is named after
the cypress trees that lined the banks in the late
1800s, which were used to make wood shingles;
thus the name, Shingle Creek. The creek and the
surrounding areas are now protected wetlands.
